In the first full year of training since the pandemic Army Cadets from Holsworthy have fully embraced the activities and challenges offered by the organisation.
In July cadets travelled to Wales for two weeks of military and adventurous training as part of The Devon ACF annual camp. August saw the cadets supporting The Holsworthy Show as part of their cadet in the community training.
In September the entire detachment attended the annual Laser Tag weekend exercise hosted by Survival Combat Games near Torrington camping out and developing their fieldcraft team and leadership skills. Also in September the detachment supported a mud run in aid of a new build project for Bradworthy Primary School both running the course and organizing the event car parking and donated £230 to the cause through sponsorship.
Detachment Commander Lt Jim Harvey said: “The detachment has bounced back strongly after the pandemic with numbers steadily increasing. Our young people have thrown themselves fully in to all activities and continue to amaze and inspire me with their dedication commitment and positive attitudes.”
If anyone would like to find out more about the organisation search Devon ACF and follow the “join as a cadet” link for young people from 12 years or “join as an adult” if you are an adult who might like to get involved in having a positive effect on the lives of young people.
Holsworthy ACF parades Mondays 6.45pm to 9.30pm at Holsworthy Youth Centre.
