THERE was certainly ‘All the fun of the fair’ last Saturday from 6pm until 9pm, on the square in the village of Week St Mary and not a Helter-Skelter in sight.
They had their own attractions by way of 20 different stalls, some being manned by villagers and others run by independent visitors.
There were beautifully made glass bowls on one, carved wooden bowls, spoons, cheese/chopping boards on another, knitted items, photographic prints, fabric animals, plants and Christmas floral decorations for sale as well tempting, edible offerings in the shape of sweets, cakes and biscuits.
Not wanting anyone to go hungry or thirsty during the course of the evening, a couple of local volunteers were cooking sausages and burgers, (which smelt extremely good), with mulled wine, hot chocolate and squashes to quench thirsts.
Seasonal music was to be heard and enjoyed in the background which added to the happy, seasonal atmosphere.
Just what was needed, some early Christmas cheer after a rather gloom-laden 18 months or so.
All involved said they look forward to what will be on offer at next year’s fair.
