THE Bude Girlguiding District is in desperate need of adult leaders to help run the various groups in the area.
Ladies are being sought to help run the units in and around Bude including Rainbows (aged five to seven), Brownies (seven to ten) and Guides (10 to 14).
Bude District Commissioner Helen Retallick said Girlguiding was a "modern, independent voice for young women." She said Girlguiding had "moved with the times" and was "not all rubbing sticks together."
The Bude District is looking for ladies who can help out one night a week at which ever unit they choose. Training and support are provided for the volunteers, said Helen.
She added: "The ladies can do as much or as little as they want. It really is so rewarding to see the girls grow."
Appealing to prospective volunteers, Helen said: "You would be making a real difference to the girls and with big rewards for you personally, like making new friends, developing your career skills and just having fun, what is stopping you?"
The district has "lots of exciting things planned" for next year to celebrate 100 years of Girlguiding, added Helen.
If anyone is interested in becoming a leader or would like more information please contact Helen on 01288 341139.
She said: "A warm and friendly welcome is guaranteed."
