A FIRE station in Bude is raising money to support one local’s vital cancer treatments.
Bude Fire Station have hosted a number of events to raise money to support a local woman’s cancer treatment.
Clare Downes was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2021 and is now seeking treatment in Germany to help fight the disease.
With treatment expenses incredibly high, the community are now rallying around to support Clare.
As part of their efforts, Bude Fire Station have hosted a fundraising afternoon, providing food, drinks and music to residents as they are given a sneak peak inside the station and its appliances.
However, if this wasn’t enough, members of the fire fighting team are also pushing themselves to the limit, taking a massive 10 kilometre run while donning full fire kit.
A spokesperson from the station explained: “We want to help get Clare to Germany in order to have her treatment to continue her fight against this horrible disease.
“Clare is a huge part of our fire family here in Bude and one of the kindest ladies you could meet.
“Please help support our cause and help us get Clare to Germany.”
