EXETER University’s water polo team made their second visit to Bude Sea Pool on Saturday, May 27 to take part in training and some practice matches.
Last October the team came, and this time 25 current students and alumni played alongside players from Bude Water Polo Club for a warm-up run by Bude’s coach Steve Stritch before they were separated into three mixed teams.
With members from all over the UK as well as Zimbabwe, South Africa and Hungary, Exeter’s women’s team have recently won the University League, with the men coming out top in the South West divisions.
The unofficial visit was organised by the social secretary of the university club, Charlotte Diffey, who comes from Widemouth Bay.
Charlotte said: “I’m really proud to be able to show off the fantastic facility we have at Bude Sea Pool to the rest of my team, most of whom have never played in a pool like this before — Bude is so lucky to have it.
“We have plans to come back a third time next October so I’m hoping this becomes a regular event.”
Bude Water Polo Club recently started summer training in the sea pool on Tuesday evenings from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
