BUDE Junior School has been awarded the School Games Gold mark for their commitment, engagement and delivery of sports in 2015 and 2016.

The award was validated by Julie Ponting, the school games organiser for East Cornwall, who said: “Congratulations Bude Junior School on all your continued effort and determination in providing your pupils with an array of sporting events, a wide PE curriculum and leadership skills.”

This is the first time the school has achieved the top mark, and is testament to the effort of all of its staff and pupils under the leadership of Mr David Bevan.

As well as this achievement, three Bude Junior School teams recently competed at the Cornwall School Games in Penzance. The Year 5 and 6 gymnastics team performed superbly in their team competition, whilst the Year 3 and 4 gymnastic team won gold medals in what was a scintillating team display.

Additionally, the Year 6 boys’ swimming team qualified for the final of the freestyle relay, and Will Moyle and Ed French qualified for the final of the backstroke and butterfly respectively.

A spokesperson for the school said: “Congratulations to all our pupils who represented our school so well at the county event.”
