BUDE man Paul Martin has been an extra in Doc Martin since 2005, and recently was asked to play the body double of Martin Clunes, who plays the role of titular character Doctor Martin Ellingham, for the first episode of the new series which aired on Monday, September 2.

Paul, of Martin Group Services, often travels to Port Isaac (the village where fictional Port Wenn is set) for filming, which can be 12 hour days, and was also on the live broadcast of the One Show on Wednesday, September 4.

Due to his work with Doc Martin, the casting director asked Paul to be an extra for a German production of a Rosamunde Pilcher feature film, currently being filmed in Cornwall.
