Police in Bude have issued a warning to residents following reports of individuals attempting to enter properties and vehicles.

PC Nina from the town’s policing team said: “We have now had three separate reports from three unrelated individuals of two men, described as wearing dark clothing, during the night of  January 18 – 19, 2024 in the Bude area, town and into Flexbury trying door handles of vehicles and houses.”

Following these reports, the police have asked residents to stay vigilant and to lock house and vehicle doors “to thwart any opportunist thieves.”

PC Nina continued: “There will be increased patrols in these areas and please report any suspicious behaviour/individuals prowling in your area, via 999. This is an emergency and 'offenders on scene' and definitely validates the use of the 999 system.

“If anyone, to whom I haven't already spoken, has any Ring (or similar) doorbell or dashcam footage that may be relevant, please hand it in to the Public Enquiry Office marked for myself PC 6439 Nina with your contact details.

“Your help in identifying these individuals is always critical and very much appreciated.”
