BUDE’s lifeguards have warned beachgoers as lifeguard season ends.

With September’s arrival, beachgoers will see fewer lifeguards on the beaches of North Cornwall, with this, Bude’s RNLI have issued a reminder for those braving the sea to remain safe.

A Bude RNLI Lifeguard spokesperson said: “Sunday, September 1 marks the end of peak season for RNLI Lifeguards in the South West with certain beaches no longer being patrolled in 2024.

“Lifeguards will no longer patrol• Crackington Haven and Northcott Mouth from Monday,September 2 onwards.”

While some beaches will be left without lifeguards, several local locations will continue to see patrols.

A spokesperson continued: “The beaches in our area on which lifeguard patrols will continue are Sandymouth, Crooklets, Summerleaze, Widemouth and Blackrock.

“Even though peak season is coming to an end the weather is set to be good and we would like to remind the public of the RNLI’s advice to head to a lifeguarded beach.

“Swim and bodyboard between the red and yellow flags.

“If in trouble remember to float to live, lie on your back with your ears submerged. If you see someone in difficulty always call 999 and ask for Coastguard.”
