Some of Bude’s prettiest pups have been strutting their stuff as Bude Sea Pool hosted its own dog show.
On Sunday, October 29, Bude Sea Pool welcomed people to the pool with their four-legged friends as the end of season celebration hoped to find the town’s perfect pooch.
Dogs at the show had six chances to bag themselves a rosette, as categories included: Golden Oldie; Perfect Puppy; Loveliest Lady; Fabulous Fella; Waggiest Tail; Lookie Likie Dog and Owner; and Best in Show.
Taking home the Golden Oldie award was Woody, a 15-year-old Jack Russell.
Woody’s owner Jenny Hyslop has had her since she was eight weeks old. As a pup, Woody regularly attended work at Holsworthy Medical Centre, helping patients relax and putting them at ease. Jenny is a regular volunteer with Friends of Bude Sea Pool and member of Bude Open Water Swimmers.
A spokesperson from Bude Sea Pool said: “A huge effort was made by a whole host of volunteers. Beautiful rosettes were made by the Friends of Bude Sea Pool volunteer sewists for all winners.
“Musical accompaniment was provided by the recently formed Barrel Seagals Sea Shanty Group, the first all-women sea shanty group from Bude.
“Refreshments were on sale and provided by the catering team volunteers including hot dogs and some delicious homemade bakes. Not to mention those organising the people and pooches to make the whole day happen!”
