CAMELFORD played its part in Duchy wide celebrations in honour of Cornwall’s national patron saint on St Piran’s Day.
At Camelford Library and Bookstart Bear, there was a gardening club, a Cornish language session and a ‘bring a project’ session for all the family to participate in the events of the day.
Meanwhile, at the Camelford Conservative Club, an evening of events began at 6pm with a Cornish bingo, replete with Cornish themed prizes on offer for the winners. This was then followed by music from Callum Flew and a Trelawny Shout, which those present at the event all participated in to bring the day of events to an end.
After the fun held in the library, the evening events brought the day’s proceedings to a fun and lively end.
The events were organised by Camelford Town Council, with Cllr Jim Thomson leading the organisation of the bingo, with prizes donated by the Cornwall Hamper Company bringing a true Cornish theme to the event.
Music performed by Cornish favourite Callum Flew was, as always, well received by those in attendance, with the singer performing some Cornish classics among his repertoire.
The mayor of Camelford joined in the celebrations, which culminated in the Trelawny shout and a rendition of Cornwall, My Home.
Robert Rotchell, the mayor of Camelford was full of praise after the event, commending those who organised the events and the community who came out in force to enjoy the events organised for and by the community.
He said: “Camelford celebrated St Piran’s day in fine style, with Cornish bingo courtesy of Cllr Thomson, great prizes from the Cornwall Hamper Company, live entertainment by Callum flew singing some Cornish classics, events concluded with Trelawny shout and Cornwall My Home.”
