PEOPLE who have an interest in becoming a town councillor are now being given the chance to apply for Bude-Stratton Town Council, to fill six vacancies through co-option.
There are two vacancies for the Bude ward, two vacancies for the Flexbury and Poughill ward, and two vacancies for the Stratton ward.
Those who are interested in applying for these vacancies should complete the co-option application form, which can be obtained by contacting the council offices or by downloading it.
Potential candidates do not have to live within the ward they wish to apply for, but must meet the relevant criteria.
Applicants must be registered as a local government elector for the parish for at least 12 months before co-option, or have occupied, as owner or tenant, any land or premises in the parish; have principal or only place of work in the parish, or have resided in the parish or within 4.8km thereof.
Completed applications must be returned to the town clerk no later that 12pm on Thursday, May 25.
Candidates for co-option will be required to attend the full council meeting on Thursday, June 1 at 7pm, to make a short, two-minute address to the town council giving reasons for wishing to be considered as a town councillor. These applicants will then be considered by the council.
