WEEK St Mary’s community harvest festival was held in the church this year and was very well attended with around 70 people enjoying the harvest service and at least 60 staying for a hot supper of casseroles, potatoes and peas followed by apple crumble and custard.

Thanks were expressed to everyone who cooked and gave food for this lovely meal.

After supper auctioneer Tim Ward sold the produce and raised over £400, a record in recent years.

His work was made ‘easier’ by the many young people including the Harvest Queen, her Maid of Honour and attendants who queued up to help deliver purchases to the buyers.

Together with donations for the harvest supper the joint churches worship team was able to send £567 to Water Aid, whose work supplying clean water via boreholes across the world formed the basis for the harvest festival service and activities.
