A cow was successfully rescued by fire crews after it became stuck in a slurry pit.

On receipt of the call at around 7.39am, resources from Launceston and Callington as well as a specialist appliance from Bodmin and two officers were mobilised.

On arrival, further resources were requested from Bude.

A Cornwall Fire and Rescue spokesperson confirmed: “It was confirmed that a cow had fallen into a slurry pit, crew worked in a confined space to assess the best method to rescue the cow, once a plan was detailed a telehandler was utilised along with strops and lines and practical skills, to successfully recover the cow to a safe area.”

The incident happened on January 20.
