The chief executive of Fat Face Anthony Thompson said ‘cynical discounting’ was s not a sustainable model for UK retail and led to ‘a lack of creativity, newness in fashion and joy’ — instead the retailers decided to turn discounting into something more positive and offer a donation to a local charity.
Fat Face’s ‘Thanks for Giving’ initiative saw them agree to donate 10% of their net profit to charities local to their 221 stores — each charity was chosen by the local branch’s store crew.
The initiative took place in November across all of Fat Face’s stores and raised just under £200,000.
The amount was divided equally between all Fat Face store’s chosen charities and the Bude branch was able to present the sea pool frinds with a cheque for £889.77.
The friends expressed their thanks to Fat Face and the customers who made a purchase during the initiative period.
