FOUR families received keys to their new council-owned homes in Kilkhampton last week.

The much needed housing for rent, which was in jeopardy last year following government funding cuts, are the first council-owned houses to be built in North Cornwall in over 25 years.

The four houses, owned by Carrick Housing, used local contractors and involved the local community in the development. The new homes were let to families in need of housing on Cornwall Council's Homechoice register.
