STUDENTS from Budehaven Community School became newshounds for a day last Thursday when they joined 800 other schools across the UK in the BBC School Report.
Students across the country created news bulletins from their schools and posted their segments on the BBC website.
The day began at 8.30am with supervising teachers Hilary Curtis and Mike Bartaby calling a news conference.
Students from Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 pored over the day's national and local newspapers to find stories to follow up. They made decisions on which stories to explore, and had created a running order by 9am.
Teams of reporters armed with cameras and iPads went to the local supermarket to film responses from customers to national stories that included: 'Selling cigarettes to anyone born after the year 2000 should be made illegal', and local news: 'Tesco opening in Bude — one supermarket too many?'
