MORE than £2,000 was raised for the Alzheimer’s Society after a mega marathon bike ride by the Holsworthy Peloton Group.
In total 102 riders took part in the challenge, with the option of four routes comprising 25, 42, 62 or 100 miles in distance, with the riders being sponsored to participate.
The sponsorship raised £2,329 for the charity, with all 102 riders participating completing the ride.
Participants did not go without nourishment, either, with a feed station available at the Arscott Hall in Tetcott.
Danny Hubbard, the chairman of the Holsworthy Peloton group said of the event: “We saw 102 riders over the start line on Sunday [August 18] to complete their various route rides. We had four route option 25, 42, 62 and an epic 100-mile routes. Currently, our fundraising total for The Alzheimer's Society is a great £2,329.
“Our wonderful feed station was all donated by club members and riders who baked, made and contributed to make a welcome refuelling stop.
“We’d also like to give a special thanks to HASP (Holsworthy Area Sports Pavilion) for our venue, Blagdon Wharf Cafe for use of the cafe, Tamar Trading Holsworthy for sponsorship and all the volunteers that made the day a success.”
