THE winners of the prestigious annual horticultural competition in Holsworthy has been announced by the town council.
Holsworthy in Bloom saw fierce but friendly competition between individuals and businesses for the honours in a series of classes, which were judged during the town’s centrepiece occasion, St Peter’s Fair Week.
In the Overall Residential category, Jean and James Frayne took top prize, with Linda Russell and Martin Prout coming second and third.
Christopher Brown won the best residential hanging basket, with the Social Club coming on top of the business category with the Kings Arms a close second.
However, the Kings were victorious in the business hanging basket category, triumphing over the Olde Market Inn.
Three individuals were noted for a special mention by the panel of judges for their efforts with Gloria Dymond, Miriam Hibberd and George Wilcox commended.
A spokesperson for Holsworthy Town Council said that entries are open to participate in next year’s competition. They said: “Holsworthy Town Council have an annual Garden Competition for residents and businesses within Holsworthy.
