CORNWALL is often accused of not receiving enough money to improve the Duchy but several areas in North Cornwall have been left delighted after receiving funding for projects.
Launceston, Tregadillett and Callington Town Council are amongst those to benefit from Cornwall Council grants totalling £1.1-million.
Elsewhere in Launceston, we hear from Launceston Medical Centre practice manager Andrew Yardley as he listens to residents’ concerns over the effectiveness of its services, the town’s hospital league of friends group have been given a donation from community benefactors and Launceston Detectorists make a donation to charity in memory of their former chairman.
Protests have been held in Bude, Camelford and Stratton over ‘dirty water’ as North Cornwall MP Scott Mann promises the government are doing all they can to end combined sewer discharge in rivers.
In Bude we hear from the mother of James Keane who has been left ‘devastated’ by vandals targeting her late son’s memorial bench while Bude-Stratton Town Council have been questioned over their flag flying protocol regarding their war memorial.
On a more sombre note, the family of Mark Colwill, killed in a motorcycle crash by an asylum seeker with a fake driving licence, demand answers in court.
As ever there’s all the latest community news including the latest from Grenville Lodge in Bude and a talk on Launceston in Tasmania, Australia plus two pages of school news from the likes of Lewannick Primary School and Windmill Hill Academy.
We also check in on the farming world including a busy month for Bradworthy YFC and the latest from Penbode Vets.
There’s also the latest Westminster column from Conservative MP for Torridge and West Devon, Sir Geoffrey Cox including a visit to Bideford College, while a planning application near Altarnun has been rejected by Cornwall Council.
Close to Altarnun, our reporter Aaron Greenaway takes us back to 1953 with a special feature on when Davidstow was on the annual Formula 1 calendar.
