A CHURCH in Launceston was transformed into an art gallery recently, showcasing plenty of local photography talent.

On June 22 and 23, Launceston Camera Club took over St Mary’s Church in the town in order to host an exhibition of some of their brilliant work.

The club, which has seen much success in recent years, winning a number of awards for their photographic creations, transformed the local church into a showcase of Cornish photography.

A spokesperson for the group said: “We would like to thank the members of the church for their support, and thank all of the visitors who came to enjoy our work.”

During the event, the group also held a competition for one lucky visitor to win a photo-print. Winning the competition was young local, Delphi, who was able to choose her favourite print to take home.

Geoff Trevarthen presented his print of a 'Highland Cow on Dartmoor' to Delphi, accompanied by her mother Helen.

Geoff said: “The photograph was Delphi's favourite at the exhibition, though many of our visitors said the quality of all of the photos displayed was wonderful.”

A spokesperson added: “If you came along to see our photos over the weekend, we hope you enjoyed them too! “
