LAUNCESTON’S drivers are set for delays in the coming weeks as roadworks are undertaken in the town centre.

From May 12, the town’s drivers will be met with delays and diversions as they traverse the town’s centre as South West Water undertake essential works.

For five days, a stretch of Church Street will be closed - from the Bell Inn to Market Street.

A spokesperson from South West Water said: “To ensure that disruption to our customers, local businesses and traffic is kept to a minimum, a road diversion will be put in place which has been agreed with the local Highways Authority. Signs will also be placed in the relevant locations to direct the traffic through the diversion.”

The organised diversion will see drivers taken via Tower Street, the A388, and Broad Street.
