LAUNCESTON firefighters were mobilised after a lorry was ablaze on the A30 this week.
On December 19, both appliances from Launceston Community Fire Station were mobilised to a large vehicle fire on the eastbound carriageway of the A30, between Kennards house and Pennygillam.
On arrival the lorry driver had already detached his truck from the trailer in a bid to avoid escalation.
Despite the call out, the fire had already extinguished itself, however, the fire station report that the trailer’s axle and breaks were reading 300 degrees on their thermal imaging camera.
Using two hose reel jets, crews cooled the affected area with water to bring the temperature down to prevent reignition.
