At their recent monthly meeting Launceston Stamp Club members were entertained by three members from the Taw and Torridge Club in North Devon.
Members were treated to a varied display ranging from the early issues of Afghanistan where instead of postmarking to indicate a stamp had been used a piece was torn from the stamp, to the issues of the Falkland Islands and the postmarks of Launceston (not this one but its namesake in Tasmania). Another member showed cameos of the Eurovision Song Contest, Sea Shells,British Queens, World War One and Volcanoes. In addition to showing the stamps she related some most interesting facts about her involvement in one of the Eurovision Song Contests on a standby judging panel and her research connected with her family’s involvement in World War 1. The third visitor showed the local stamps issued from time to time by various organisations in Wales. Overall a truly interesting evening.
