LEWTRENCHARD Manor has announced its permanent closure.
One of the more popular destinations with locals, the country home has announced it will be closing its doors with immediate effect.
This historic manor has welcomed guests for variety of occasions from a stay in the countryside, an afternoon tea, or even a wedding day.
The site has links back to the 11th-century, even being mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086AD. Since then, it has been in the hands of several families, most notably during the 19th-century when the home was site was owned by the Baring-Gould's.
However, in recent years the Murray Family have been at the helm of the property.
Following the announcement, the family have said that the decision to close the manor hasn’t been an easy one.
The family told the Post: “It is with a significant amount of regret that we have permanently closed Lewtrenchard Manor. We made this decision with a heavy heart, but due to difficult trading conditions since Covid and several failed sales of our lease we had no further options to us.
“Our thoughts are with all the members of our wonderful and fantastic team who have lost their jobs, and we wish them all the best for the future, and to so many guests we count as friends, who chose to stay and visit us time and time again.”
