THE owner of Adventure International, Bude, has announced he is selling the business due to ill health.
In a turn of events, the 'Post' has been informed that managing director Keith Marshall is handing over the reins to centre manager, Tracy Joslyn, in a management buyout.
The news comes after half of the centre's 74 staff walked out last Friday.
Adventure International, based in a former hotel, can cater up to 350 people, and runs numerous activities such as kayaking, surfing and abseiling. It caters for schools and hosts stag and hen parties.
Last Friday (June 21) more than half of the 74 staff 'walked out' due to health and safety reasons.
It is believed that a manager had been made redundant, and staff felt it was unsafe for instructors to work and activities to continue with "no manager, support, help, advice, or guidance".
As a result school groups at the centre were unable to take part in the activities and were sent home early. Many parents and teachers took to social media sites to express their disappointment.
A spokesperson for Adventure International confirmed today that issues which caused disruption to the centre have been solved by the current management team.
Ms Joslyn, who has worked with the retiring owner and managing director, Keith Marshall, for the last 24 years, is leading the management buyout of the centre.
