RESIDENTS are to have access to additional NHS dental places with increased funding in the area. Shortages in the 'Post' have previously seen long queues of people waiting to sign up.
The Highfield Dental Practice in Camelford is able to take on an additional 2,000 NHS patients and the April Lodge Dental Practice in Bude can treat a further 300 people.
Lucy Craig, manager of the Oasis Dental Care practices in Camelford and Bude, said: "The additional NHS places will provide a welcome boost to dental services in the region. It's quite a significant amount and it will have a positive impact on the area as it's been quite some time since NHS places have been released.
"We want to build upon our commitment to improving oral health in the region and these places will help to encourage individuals to go for regular check-ups."
Antek Lejk, director of partnership commissioning at NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, said: "This additional capacity for the northern areas of Cornwall will improve access to NHS dentistry and help to ensure equality with other parts of the county.
"This is a great opportunity for people living in the area to switch over to NHS dental care and I would encourage people to contact the practices and sign up for it."
