Maura Furber, headteacher at the school said: “This week we were delighted to welcome Ben Maguire , our local MP to St Stephens Community Academy.

“Our school value this week was ‘Advocacy’ and so it was inspiring to hear why Ben wanted to be an MP.

“He is an advocate for fairer funding for schools in Cornwall, affordable housing and social care. These are all areas dear to our community’s heart.

“Ben told us about his job and what it involves. The children loved asking him questions and he spoke about what has driven him to take on the role . We spoke about democracy and how our new House Captains went through a similar election process .

“We look forward to welcoming Ben back in the near future during Parliament Week UK.”
