NORTH Cornwall’s MP has voted to introduce new laws that introduce emergency insulation programmes to keep homes warm.
Ben Maguire, the Liberal Democrat MP for North Cornwall, has voted in favour a of an amendment put forward by the Liberal Democrats. The new law would set objectives for Great British Energy to facilitate, encourage and participate in an emergency home insulation programme.
Commenting on the vote, Ben Maguire said: "I’m very supportive of this Liberal Democrat amendment, which seeks to expand renewable energy, make homes warmer and bring down energy bills for homes right across the UK.
"Here in North Cornwall, where older properties often suffer from drafts that bring in cold air, people are paying more and more to heat their homes amidst rising energy costs.
"This amendment will hopefully help the most vulnerable members of our community, and I was proud to give it my full backing in Parliament today."
