A VERY high wind did its best to make things difficult, but did not dispirit those on parade in Bude and Stratton.

The town was fortunate enough to have a number of serving members of the Armed Forces parading with the veterans and members of the emergency services.

As usual, a large number of youth organisations were represented.

The parade marched from the Strand to the church, led by Bude Town Band — no mean feat in the extremely blustery conditions.

The remembrance service was at Bude Methodist Church, at which the Rev Debbie Marsh had composed an excellent service with readings by the Army Cadets, Scouts and a talk by Clair Roberts.

New for 2017 was the scrolling display on large screens of all those named on the war memorial. The event was well received by the congregation.

A spokesperson from Bude and Stratton Royal British Legion said: “Bude and Stratton RBL thank everyone for their attendance.”
