A FORMER village fete queen did the honours after 30 years when she opened the popular event at Kilhampton. Sharon Jones, who was Kilkhampton Fete queen in 1984, officially opened the event on Saturday, at which the new queen was Anna Harvey. There were several events for people to enjoy throughout the day, including fancy dress, Bude Samba Band, children's sports, Val's Fun and Frolics, a barbecue, bar and a charity head shave in aid of Macmillan by Amy Wishart. Amy decided to shave her hair off in memory of her grandmother, who fought five years of treatment, chemotherapy and operations after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
