After two years off because of the pandemic, this year’s Poughill Revel was an incredible success.

The Revel saw more people than ever before, and took a wonderful amount of money to distribute to local charities.

The Revel was opened by local vicar Rev Teresa Folland, who crowned this year’s Revel Queen, Ellie Midelton. Ellie was joined by her attendants, Esme Colwill and Lottie-Rose Swatton who completed this year’s Revel Royalty.

Rev Folland also judged the children’s fancy dress and nobbly knees competitions which were also very well supported.

Revel goers enjoyed music from Bude Metric Brass, along with lots of pocket money games and stalls — whack a rat, skittles, treasure hunt, hoopla, football, skittles and coconut shy, bric a brac, toys and books, plants, beautiful flower arrangements from Bude Flower Club, facepainting, children’s races, lots of refreshments and homemade cakes.

It really was a great afternoon, enjoyed by everyone, and helped along by the gorgeous sunshine.

Poughill Revel secretary Charlotte Veale said: “The committee would like to sincerely thank everyone who came along to support the Revel, including all the volunteers and local businesses too.

“It is a precious community event having taken place in the village of Poughill for over one hundred years, and we really hope it will continue for many more years to come!”
