SAINSBURYS, who have acquired the former Somerfield store in Bude, recently presented new sports equipment to Kilkhampton Pre-School.

Glen Johnson, customer service manager for Sainsburys, and Martin Robinson, also an employee at Sainsburys and who currently has children at both Kilkhampton Pre-School and Primary School, said they were delighted to be able to present the Active Kids equipment to the children at Kilkhampton Pre-School.

Glen said: "Our Active Kids scheme is now in its fourth year and since its launch in 2005, we have donated over £70 million worth of equipment and experiences to schools and groups and wish to thank all involved for their support.

"We are aiming to build a long term relationship with lots of local schools and sports clubs in and around the Bude area which will all enhance our company value of 'best for food and health'.

"Upon visiting Kilkhampton Pre-School for the first time we were amazed by the amount of great work that these teachers do for the local children of Kilkhampton.

"We feel very strongly that this equipment will enhance the skills of the children and also promote a long and healthy lifestyle.

"We would like to wish all of the children and teachers at the school a very happy and healthy future and very much look forward to working with and supporting them much more over the coming years."

Liz Higgs, the chairperson of Kilkhampton Pre-School, added: "We are very grateful to Sainsburys for this kind donation of sports equipment. We encourage a lot of outdoor play at our pre-school and the equipment will be of great benefit to the children."
