KILKHAMPTON Junior and Infant School is celebrating its latest Ofted report, which has praised the school for being 'good' at helping pupils achieve above average results in reading, writing and mathematics, with some teaching being described as 'outstanding'. Kilkhampton school was assessed by Ofsted during their SATs week, which is known to be a stressful time for both the teachers and students alike without the added pressure of an inspection. Headteacher, Jane Adams, said: "Whilst the whole Ofsted process is daunting and somewhat gruelling, our inspector was fair. "He commented before he left that he had thoroughly enjoyed meeting parents, staff, Governors and especially children." The report praises the 'careful planning and excellent use of all of the school's facilities in the learning of the younger pupils', as well as the challenge that Years 5 and 6 bring, which the report says the children 'apply themselves wholeheartedly' to. As a result, national tests show good achievement. For the full report, and a round up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
