Members of Bude Rugby Club’s youth teams held a car wash event on Saturday, February 2 to help raise money for their upcoming tour. Working from 10am to 2pm, the event raised an impressive total of £400.46.
The money will be put towards the Under 12 boys’ and girls’ weekend tour at Bath, which will see both towns play against each other over the weekend of March 8.
Organiser and girls’ rugby coach, Ann Marie, said: “The first hour was a little slow but then it picked up and we had a queue of about six cars at one point!”
The total raised will help towards their £8,000 target, which will be needed before the tour in March.
The club has been busy doing other fundraising events recently to help reach the amount needed, Ann Marie explained: “We held a sponsored walk on Sunday and are just waiting for the total raised to be counted.
“We also had a cake sale on Sunday during the game and we raised £70 from that.”
The club are also holding a ladies’ night at The Rydon Inn on February 22 and will be holding an under 18 disco at Bude RFC on February 15.
