Three local charities were invited to Launceston’s Co-op store at Newport to collect their portion of this round of Local Community Fund money.
On Friday, November 4, local charity’s Coronation Park Trust, Lansen Together and Launceston Memory Cafe were invited to the Co-op Newport store to be presented with their Local Community Fund final cheques at a Coop celebration event.
The three local causes applied, were shortlisted and were then successful in becoming the Co-op round seven local community causes for 2021/22.
Speaking of how the funds have supported their work, Maria Lawson of LanSen Together said: “A huge thank you to all the customers and the Coop for choosing, LanSen Together and supporting all the families that attend our groups and our days out during the school holidays.”
During the afternoon, those attending, also including Co-op store colleagues from the three Launceston stores and staff from Coop Funeral Care too, shared funding success stories and cheques were presented to the three causes.
Co-op member pioneer for Launceston, Gemma Massey said: “It has been wonderful to work closely with these three groups over the past year. To see how the funds raised, by our members shopping in store, have impacted these groups and helped to make a difference to our local community is just brilliant.
“On help with fundraising events and so much more. Today has been a great way to celebrate all of this!”
Co-op will soon announce the three new local Launceston causes, who are successful for the next round of funding.
