Launceston’s debt advice centre recently celebrated its tenth birthday.
The centre, based in the Gateway Centre, was founded by Churches Together in 2012 along with the Food Bank and the Street Pastors to help those most in need in Launceston.
Since then, it has expanded its work to cover a larger area including Bude, Callington, Lifton, Holsworthy and many villages in between to deal with both debt and non-debt advice cases such as social security benefit applications and budgeting. More than 600 clients and their families have been assisted since 2012 with debts totalling over £3.1-million.
Sarah Vinson, Centre Manager, said: ‘We are grateful to Launceston Town Council, Launceston Rotary, the Cornwall Community Foundation, Launceston Methodist Circuit and Launceston Parish church for their ongoing financial support alongside individual donations. I am especially grateful for my team of dedicated volunteers for their time and commitment to deliver our services.’
