On Friday, May 26, Launceston u3a held a special coffee morning to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee.
Normally only open to members, this time the general public were invited and the attendance was very good. The hall at central had been decorated in red, white and blue bunting, tablecloths and homemade flowers.
There was a table groaning under the weight of assorted homemade cakes and pasties, and the donations for those and also the cups of tea and coffee were given to the Cornwall Air Ambulance. Another table, decorated with a blue and yellow flag, held the many raffle prizes, with that money going to DEC Ukraine.
A representative from the Air Ambulance talked to everyone for 10 minutes, telling them some very interesting details about this invaluable service and also about the summer Helifest that will be taking place at Padstow on Saturday, July 16 — a fun festival, with plenty for all the family to see and do.
Just over £600 was split between the two charities, thanks were expressed to everyone who took part in any way.
