Vin and Kevin Marshall and Emma and Pete James took to the road together nn Sunday, May 29, to ride the London-Essex 100 to raise funds for Lifton Community Centre.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Vin said: “The weather was ideal for cycling and it was a real pleasure to cycle in picturesque countryside, on closed roads and being amongst 20,000 cyclists.”

They started on the Victoria embankment, near Westminster Bridge, and went out past the Olympic Park at Stratford to Epping Forest, on to Great Dunmow, Felstead and then returned to London via Chipping Ongar, finishing on tower Bridge.

It was a challenge for them all but a fantastic achievement for Emma who had never ridden more than 20 miles at the beginning of the year.

Emma said afterwards: “A really tiring day but such an achievement to have cycled just over 100 miles, with the support of Vin, Kevin and Pete.”

As a result of this cycle ride they have raised to date £1,327. Thanks were expressed to Lifton Stores and to ST Lane at Tinhay for having sponsor forms for the team and to all the people that have sponsored them. They added: “We really appreciate it. It made those wet training rides worthwhile.”

If anyone still wish to sponsor them, they can do so directly with Vin, Kevin, Emma or Pete or online at ridelondon.enthuse.com/pf/kevin-marshall
