TINTAGEL Sea Angling Club held their annual presentation evening at the Wootons Hotel, Tintagel on Friday, February 19 and it was, as always, very well attended.
Chairman Garry Boyde started the evening by recalling some memorable events during 2015. Richard Coad and Terry Brown, continued the presentation and started by issuing fish of the month awards to Nigel Rundle, Richard Wright, Iain Mackay, Tom Keer, Derek Nute, Shaun Brewer, Rob Sharman, Aaron Washer and Nick Tops.
New Shore Record certificates were presented to Dave Smale for a Sole, Shaun Brewer for a Plaice of 955g and Rob Sharman for a Thornback Ray of 4.846kg.
New Club Boat record certificates were presented to Ian Young for a Grey Gurnard of 536g that was the heaviest recorded in Cornwall; Iain Mackay for a Specimen Haddock of 2.67kg; Peter Gordon for a CFSA best of species Ling of 12.719kg; and Nigel Rundle for a Blue Shark of 34.019kg.
Best of specie awards shields were presented as follows:
• The best lure caught fish — Nick Tops
• The best ray — Rob Sharman
• The best flatfish — Shaun Brewer
• The best shore bass — Nick Tops
• The best boat bass — Ian Young
• The best mullet — Lawrence Dawber
• The best whiting — Tom Cole
• The best bream — Lawrence Dawber
• The best tope — Ian Young
• The best dogfish — Nigel Rundle
• The best pollack — Aaron Washer
• The best wrasse — Derek Nute
Other awards won included the Jack Cann Shield for the best fish caught during the open which was won by Richard Coad; Iain Mackay won the best boat specimen award for his record breaking haddock (118%); and Rob Sharman won the best shore specimen award for his thornback ray.
The Boat Angler of the year was won by Nigel Rundle, while the Shore Angler of the year was won by Derek Nute.
The overall Angler of the year award was also won by Nigel Rundle with an overall average of 87%.
The presentation concluded with thanks given to Ian and Felicity Young for their hospitality and support to the club throughout the year.
