BOND TIMBER CORNWALL CRICKET LEAGUE EDEN MOTORHOMES DIVISION TWO T20 CUP (GROUP G)
HOLSWORTHY are through to the quarter-finals of the Division Two T20 Cup after a routine eight-wicket victory at South Petherwin in Group G.
Having beaten Bude in their opener, the Trees were guaranteed to go through if they beat Petherwin and took less than 22 overs to do so.
Petherwin were missing several key players but the visitors were in determined mood, dismissing their hosts for just 65 in 14.1 overs.
Although slow, Petherwin were going okay at 39-2 with star players Andrew Brenton (17 off 27) and Sam Pengelly (14 off 11) in, but once they were separated by Dan Smith, the end came quickly as Jasper Presswell (2-11 off three) and Aiden Gerry (4-2 off two) shared six wickets.
Matt Shepherd went fourth ball for eight, caught by Jacob Masters off Billy Martin, but Fred King (17 off 10) and Herschelle Poggenpoel (40no off 26) ensured there was no low-scoring thriller.
Both sides return to action on Saturday in Division Two East with Holsworthy hosting leaders St Blazey, and St Austell Seconds providing the opposition for Petherwin down at Wheal Eliza.
