LAUNCESTON confirmed their Step Five status for another year on Saturday as the depleted Cornishmen won 27-22 at mid-table Lydney on Saturday in Regional One South West.

The All Blacks were missing more than half a dozen first choice players for various reasons but came out on top in Gloucestershire.

They led 24-19 at the break thanks to tries from Brandon Rowley, a penalty try and James Tucker plus seven points from Dan Pearce, and although the second half was a lot less free-scoring, a penalty from Pearce was enough to get the job done.

Launceston welcome champions Camborne to Polson Bridge on Saturday (2.30pm) for their penultimate outing of the campaign.
