Cornwall Cricket League Division Two East preview – Saturday, June 29
LEADERS Werrington Seconds will hope to maintain their advantage at the top of the table when they welcome bottom side Tintagel to Ladycross.
The Tron have lost just once so far as they seek a return to the second tier after relegation in 2022, and will start as favourites a Knights side that have won just once.
That said, Matt Jolliffe’s side have showed signs of improvements in recent weeks, and with a strong side named, will back themselves to cause problems.
Werrington are without opening bowler Nick Oldaker who is on holiday while all-rounder Ryan Pooley is with them having moved from Tintagel over the winter.
Tintagel are boosted by the return of batsman Tom Parsons and left-arm spinner Matt Pethick, although all-rounder Geoff Uglow is absent.

BUDE are second despite having played more than Werrington and third-placed St Austell Seconds, and welcome St Blazey to Crooklets.
Skipper Warren Rumble has the luxury of a full strength side to choose from as they look to bounce back from Sunday’s defeat at Werrington.
James Sharman was in the runs over the weekend after moving back up the order, while the bowlers know the importance of knocking over the visitors’ much-vaunted top three.
BUDE v St Blazey: Wayne Adams, James Sharman, Warren Rumble (capt, wkt), Matt Whitefield, Matt Williams, James Turner, Andrew De Rosa, Harry Dymond, Matt Mansbridge, Brett Hunter, Mark Whitefield.
HOLSWORTHY beat both St Austell Seconds and Lanhydrock last weekend to fling themselves up towards the top four, and the Trees start as firm favourites when they welcome Menheniot-Looe to Stanhope Park.
Skipper Ryan Walter has to do without all-rounders Dan Smith and Aiden Gerry and opening batsman Jack May, but names an otherwise strong side against a Menheniot side that can sparkle on any given day.
In come Ben Hutchings, Harrison Palmer and debutant Wayne Pomeroy.

They welcome back opener Ben Hawken but batsman Ryan Pooley is once again missing.
ST MINVER v Lanhydrock: Ben Hawken, Antony Ash, Kelvin Lockwood, Archie Edwards, Alek Gill (capt), Jonny Centini, Rob Hawken, Dean Jeffery, Jack Gill, Josh Sanders, Phil Kent.
SOUTH Petherwin produced a dominant 68-run victory at Tintagel last Saturday and will hope to take that momentum into the visit of Callington Seconds to Kennards House.
Petherwin saw half centuries from Mike Bolt, Jacob Masters and Adrian Clements to rack up 259-9 before the visitors mustered 191 in reply.
However they are without eight first team players for the game including the likes of Sam Pengelly, Adrian Warne and Adrian Clements.
In come Ollie Brown from Lewdown as well as Connor Warne from the seconds.
Callington arrive fourth in the table and have hopes of doing better considering the talent at their disposal.
They give a first appearance of the season to batsman Ollie Allsop who is back from university, while Peter Tancock is rewarded for his unbeaten hundred for the thirds with a recall.
On the bowling front, Oscar Crichton is given a debut after a good start to the season in the thirds.
Out go the unavailable Alex Robinson, Liam Hunn and Ryan Hodge.
