North Devon League round-up — Saturday, September 7

SECOND-HALF goals from Sennon Swain and Jacob Nosworthy put Bridgerule into the last eight of the Combe Martin Cup for teams in the Senior Division as they won 2-0 at local rivals Kilkhampton.

Swain struck in the 61st minute before Nosworthy sealed their passage with a goal seven minutes from time.

Bridgerule head to Combe Martin in the next round on October 26.

Gregory Mitchell struck a hat-trick as Shebbear United set up a last eight tie at Fremington Reserves following a 4-0 victory over Bideford Community.

A first-half own goal set Shebbear on the way before Mitchell went to work after the break, first of all toe-poking into the corner before latching on a stray pass.

His second consecutive hat-trick came in the last minute when he finished off a one-on-one.

Holsworthy Reserves were among five teams given a bye and will go to their Torrington counterparts.

Bradworthy Reserves won a seven-goal thriller at Sandymere Blues to moved into the last eight of the Inter 3 League Cup for Intermediate Three teams.

Harrison Palmer, Will Jenkins, Thomas Melville and Jordan Ley were on target.

Shebbear United Reserves paid the price for some poor discipline as they were knocked out by Barnstaple Reserves.

Tyler Claydon and Hayden Nimmo both spent time in the sin-bin and although Simon Larkworthy and Shane Dilling scored, it wasn’t enough in a 5-2 loss.

Ashwater are also out, losing 6-2 at Woolsery.

There was one league match involving Post area clubs as Morwenstow Reserves welcomed Eastside in Intermediate Two.

After two crushing defeats, the Greens were 2-1 to the good at the break thanks to Archie Furber and Ben Polak’s wonder strike, before the visitors turned it around to ease to victory.
