St Piran League Division Two East round-up – Saturday, February 8

GERRANS and St Mawes United edged a five-goal thriller at Bodmin Town Reserves to remain two points clear of third in the race for promotion.

The coastal club headed up to Priory Park with a two-point cushion with a game in-hand over Gorran, and by 4.30pm, the gap was the same.

While Gorran edged past fifth-placed Saltash United Thirds 1-0, who dropped a couple of places as a result, Gerrans got the job done thanks to goals from Jason Busby, Sam Goodswen and Samuel Ward, that despite goals in the second half from sub Charlie Bickle and Harry White.

St Dennis are also right in the mix after easing to a 4-0 victory at Bude Town Reserves, while Mevagissey earned a precious three points in their quest for survival as they edged out second bottom Calstock 2-1 with Daniel Peters and Kieran Warrick doing the business.

Ryan Smale got the Bees’ goal.
