BUDE emerged victorious in sunny, but blustery conditions on the North Cornwall coast and now head to Devon club Saunton in the next round on Sunday, June 16.

Ping Betterball competition — Thursday, May 30
CAROLE Hutchinson with partner Julie Finch were the winners of the Ping Better Ball competition with an excellent score of 45 points from runners-up Shirley Leadbeater and Vivienne Jackson, who were two points back.
Three couples came in with a score of 40 points with Wendy Collins and Bridgette Hayes (third), Cath Hopkins and Avril Starling (fourth) and Beth Ratcliffe and Sarah Ockwell (fifth) having their positions decided by countback.
Seniors Section
Rodgers Trophy — Tuesday, May 28
ONCE there was only one Seniors Trophy and that was the Rodgers Cup, and last Tuesday the Seniors competed for their oldest trophy.
The result had to be decided on countback as three players finished with the same nett score. But in the end it was Roger Peek who just got the better of Chris James and Martin Ryan.
Winner: Roger Peek — 83-13 = 70; Runner-up: Chris James — 85-15 = 70; 3rd: Martin Ryan — 89-19 = 70.
Men’s Section
Symons Cup — Sunday, May 26
THE men played a pairs betterball last Sunday and Steve Greenaway and Ashley Rowland stormed ahead to take the trophy by four shots.
Winners: Steve Greenaway and Ashley Rowland — 62; Runners-up: Kevin and Joe Dickinson — 66.
These two pairs will now go forward to the county organised Lord Lieutenants Trophy at Carlyon Bay in August.
Mixed Section
Fulford Cup — Monday, May 27
A MIXED greensome was played on Bank holiday Monday, this format means both players hit from the tee and then they choose the best one and play alternate shots from there to complete the hole.
Winners were the men’s captain Paul Hicks and his wife Liz.
Winners: Paul and Liz Hicks — 67.0; Runners-up: Francis Griffiths & Sarah Ross — 68.0; 3rd: Cath Hopkins & Dick Knight — 71.6.
