Redruth Seconds 33 Bude 12

THE Seasiders are now just three points above the drop zone after a disappointing second half cost them dear at the Recreation Ground.

The Seasiders well in the game at half-time, but another slow start ensured they headed back to North Cornwall with nothing to show for their efforts.

The Reds scored 20 minutes in via winger Dean Bonds which was added to by the first of four Ashley Hosking conversions, before Bude piled on the pressure.

They were left unhappy that the referee penalised them close to the home line, before they again went close but their driving maul was stopped.

Bude had Redruth rattled and a superb team try on 28 minutes drew them level.

The ball was spread out to the left wing where Ryan Butler beat his man inside his own half before soaring away to dot down in the corner. Brad Thomas added a decent kick for 7-7 which was how it stayed until half-time.

But as was the case in the recent defeat at Plymstock, the Seasiders imploded after the break.

Within five minutes a fine kick from scrum-half Charlie Way was finished off by winger Matt Blewett before the same man intercepted a pass to run in 60 metres five minutes later for 21-7.

Bude responded on 58 minutes as player/coach Joe Wilson powered over from close range, but two more tries before the end – from Finley Wolstencroft and Charlie Levick – meant any hopes of any bonus points were gone.
