THE inaugural St Austell Skyline 10 – organised by St Austell Running Club was held on Saturday, March 22.
The multi-terrain race which starts with a difficult 2.5-mile climb, takes in the town’s clay country heritage, is mostly off road while being fast and challenging in various places.
Runners followed a mix of trails, permissive paths and footpaths as they passed by old clay dryers, clay pits and other heritage including starting starting opposite the historic Menacuddle Well.
Launceston Road Runners’ Adam Paynter and Jo Northey were amongst the 93 runners taking part for the trial race which organisers hope will be added to the Cornish racing calendar next year.
Jo was done in 1:47:45, 17 seconds ahead of Adam.
Many of the runners involved in the race will return to action on Sunday, April 6 for event five of the Cornwall Grand Prix Series – An Res Hellys – a 10-mile multi-terrain run which takes in Helston’s National Trust Penrose Estate.
