Coach’s corner by James Brobin
LET me reintroduce myself, my name is James Brobin and I am a LTA Level 4 Senior performance accredited licenced tennis coach.
I have been coaching for over 25 years and have a wealth of playing and coaching experience. I have been Cornwall coach of the year twice and more recently the regional coach of the year for the South West.
I am currently head coach to Launceston Tennis Club St Joseph’s School and Wadebridge Tennis Club and I love coaching players of all ages and stages as tennis is truly a game for all.
2024 has been a good year for Launceston with resurfaced courts and brand new LED floodlights.
The coaching programme runs all year round offering mini tennis for players in full-time education between the ages of four and 10. There is also Junior tennis from 10-19 years and of course adult tennis.
In addition to the coaching we run competitions every half term and end of term school holidays. The club is active in both the summer and winter leagues in Cornwall.
Never has physical and mental health been so important and I am sure you have all read the reports in the benefits of playing a sport like tennis. They say tennis players generally live longer!
Connecting to like minded people and playing a sport that is known around the world is a great way to travel and meet people and enrich your life.
The autumn term coaching programme has been in full swing with mini tennis/junior tennis on a Friday evening, junior tennis/adult tennis on a Tuesday and adult tennis on a Monday morning.
On a final note, anyone reading this that would like to get involved with tennis sessions at Launceston tennis club please do not hesitate to get in touch via [email protected]
