A ROAD closure between two North Cornwall towns has compounded further misery on motorists just days after a collapsed building closed the main road indefinitely.

The B3266 between Washaway, near Bodmin to Camelford is closed between Valley Truckle and Beacon Lane for BT Openreach engineering works.

The closure comes just days after the A39 through Fore Street in Camelford was the subject of an emergency road closure after the collapse of a building.

It means that motorists seeking to travel through North Cornwall from Bodmin towards Camelford and beyond have to take a detour through the Allen Valley on the A39, adding around four miles and at least six minutes to their journey.

The engineering works will see the road closed until the end of Wednesday, July 3.

In a media notice confirming the closure, Cornwall Notice is hereby given that Cornwall Council has made the above Order dated June 17, 2024 in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the RTRA 1984 to temporarily prohibit the use by traffic of the undermentioned length of road in Camelford.

“This prohibition is necessary for frame and cover replacement works and it is expected that the closure will be from July 2 to July 3. The prohibition will be in force between the hours of 0800 and 1800, weekends included.”
